In this month’s video update, I mentioned that I was recording from a hotel room while spending time with a family member who is facing serious health challenges. Years ago, I made a conscious decision that I wanted my work to support my life—not replace it. I wanted the freedom to be present for the people who matter most.

Just a few weeks earlier, that same flexibility allowed me to board another plane, this time to Nicaragua.

In just a few weeks, I’ll be boarding another one—this time to Ukraine.

Neither trip is a vacation. Neither is a break from work. Both are opportunities to be present where I believe I can make a difference.

That realization reminded me of something we often talk about with our clients.

Financial planning isn’t really about money.

It’s about what money makes possible.

Wealth Creates More Than Financial Security

When people think about financial planning, they often think about retirement accounts, investments, market performance, taxes, or estate planning.

Those things absolutely matter.

But they’re the tools—not the destination.

The real question is this: What kind of life are you trying to build?

For some people, that means spending more time with grandchildren.

For others, it means traveling the world, supporting causes they believe in, mentoring the next generation, or simply having the flexibility to be present when someone they love needs them.

The purpose comes first.

The financial strategy exists to support it.

Seeing Generosity in Action

Michael Brady, Sara Russell, Olivia Russell, and Frontier Horizon founder Vinny visit a grandmother raising her grandchildren in Nicaragua while delivering food, toiletries, and essential supplies through Frontier Horizon’s community outreach program.

Our recent trip to Nicaragua with Frontier Horizon was a powerful reminder of why generosity matters.

While there, we had the opportunity to visit children and families, witness the impact of ongoing sponsorships, and celebrate the opening of the El Cristal feeding center—a place that will provide meals, hope, and community for children who face incredible challenges every day.

It’s difficult to describe the feeling of standing in a place where something as simple as a nutritious meal, a safe gathering space, or someone who simply cares can completely change a child’s future.

You quickly realize that generosity isn’t measured only by dollars.

It’s measured by lives changed.

It reminds us that every act of kindness—whether it’s sponsoring a child, volunteering your time, encouraging someone, or simply showing up—creates a ripple effect far beyond what we can see.

Next Stop: Ukraine

Michael Brady of Generosity Wealth Management takes a selfie with children attending Frontier Horizon's Winter Camp Dreamland in Ukraine, where displaced youth experience friendship, encouragement, and a sense of normalcy.

A smile can speak every language. During Winter Camp Dreamland in Ukraine, Michael spent time getting to know children whose lives have been deeply affected by war. While the circumstances that brought them there are difficult, Camp Dreamland creates space for laughter, friendship, and simply being kids again—reminding us that hope often begins with human connection.

In the coming weeks, I’ll have the privilege of traveling to Ukraine with Frontier Horizon for Camp Dreamland. This will be my 6th time joining children whose lives have been disrupted by war. Camp Dreamland provides something incredibly valuable: the chance to simply be kids again. For one week, 300 Ukrainian children- most orphans, will laugh. They will play. They will build friendships. They will experience hope.

The circumstances surrounding these children are heartbreaking, but the resilience they demonstrate is equally inspiring.

I’m looking forward to witnessing that resilience firsthand, encouraging the incredible team serving there, and sharing more about the experience when I return.

What Does This Have to Do With Financial Planning?

Maybe more than you think.

One of the questions we often ask clients isn’t, “How much money do you want to accumulate?”

Instead, we ask: “What do you want your life to make possible?”

Your answer may be completely different from mine.

Maybe your purpose is spending more time with family.

Maybe it’s traveling.

Maybe it’s serving your church or community.

Maybe it’s supporting organizations making a difference around the world.

Maybe it’s building a business that creates opportunities for others long after you’re gone.

There isn’t a right answer.

But there is tremendous value in building a financial plan that gives you the freedom to say “yes” when life presents those meaningful opportunities.

Aligning Wealth with Purpose

At Generosity Wealth Management, we align wealth with purpose and possibility.

That isn’t just a tagline.

It’s a philosophy.

Because the greatest value of financial planning isn’t simply reaching a number on a balance sheet.

It’s creating the freedom to be present for your family.

To invest in your community.

To live AND leave a meaningful legacy.

To answer the call when someone—or something—needs you.

If your financial plan is helping you live a life of greater purpose, then it’s doing exactly what it was designed to do.
